  • How does hypnotherapy work?
Our mind can be divided into two mental states; conscious and the subconscious. The conscious mind deals with rational thinking and observation that we are aware of while the subconscious stores our life’s experiences, emotions and our core beliefs and habits that have evolved out of those experiences. Through hypnotherapy we suppress the influences of the conscious mind and alter the state in which our subconscious shows hesitancy to a certain situation. The reason that hypnosis works is that all physical or mental behaviours can be traced back to nerve transmission in the brain. These nerve pathways can be altered by suggestion when the brain is in an alpha or theta brain wave state that lies on the borderline between waking and sleeping. The healing patterns created during hypnotherapy are established by achieving these states. The reason treated individuals do not revert to their old ways after this therapy is that it functions independent of will power.
  • Will I lose control during hypnosis?
No, you will not lose control during hypnosis. Unlike the popular portrayals of hypnotherapy, therapeutic hypnotherapists will not control your actions or make you believe things against your will. I work with people while they are fully aware of their surroundings and can choose to come out of the trance at any time. During hypnosis, I will provide hypnotic suggestions to create change, and it is your commitment to continue reinforcing these changes after our sessions in your day-to-day life with in your conscious mind that will make the outcome of our session successful.
  • Is hyonotherapy safe?
Yes, hypnotherapy is considered a safe and natural therapeutic approach when conducted by a trained and certified hypnotherapist. It involves guiding you, the client into a state of deep relaxation and heightened focus, similar to a daydream or a meditative state. During this state, the mind becomes more receptive to positive suggestions, but the you remain fully aware and in control of your actions.
  • Can anyone be hypnotised?
Most people can be hypnotised, but how deeply varies. Hypnosis is like entering a deeply calming and relaxed state. Factors like your willingness, trust in the hypnotherapist, and ability to relax matter. Hypnosis is a team effort; I can do the talking and bring all the suggestions possible, but being open and wanting to make a change is essential. We create a comfortable and trusting environment to maximise hypnotherapy benefits. If you have concerns or questions about being hypnotised or whether hypnotherapy is right for you, reach out to me for a consultation.
  • What happens in a session?
The very first session is where I get to know you! Get to know what it is that has brought you to me in the first place, what it is you are hoping to achieve, and what have been the barriers to change occurring in the past. Then we go on to your personalised session. All you need to do is show up wanting to change, and I will do all the rest to guide you to a permanent change in your life!
  • What does hypnotherapy feel like?
I describe the sensation as personalised mindfulness and a deeply relaxed state. I make sure that you are comfortable and most importantly feel safe in the space we are in together. Everyone experiences hypnosis a little differently, some say they feel like they are floating on clouds, and others say that they feel clarity and relaxation. Others say it’s the most relaxed they have felt in a long time. Some people experience losing track of time during the session or feel like they have fallen asleep and don't remember any of the session. All of these responses are completely normal. You are always in control, and you can stop the session at any given moment if you choose to, if you feel uncomfortable or anxious.
  • Online vs. Face-to-Face
The results of doing online hypnotherapy sessions are remarkable. Online sessions have proven to be a highly effective means of experiencing the transformative power of hypnotherapy, ensuring that you can access the support you need from the comfort and convenience of your own space. The benefits of online sessions are numerous. They offer you the opportunity to engage in hypnotherapy without the need to travel or leave your home, promoting a sense of comfort and relaxation. Furthermore, these virtual sessions are conducted via platforms like Zoom or Messenger video calls ensuring your privacy and confidentiality. • What is Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)?
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) focuses on the connection between neurological processes, language, and behavioural patterns learned through experience. When combined with hypnotherapy, NLP techniques can enhance the effectiveness of sessions by addressing thought patterns and behaviours at a unconscious level. NLP provides us with greater levels of understanding about ourselves and others.
